Becky and Mac in HOYS main arena 2008
Becky is passionate about show jumping, having show jumped as a junior.
Becky has also trained horses to Advanced Medium dressage as well as coached riders to International level.
2008 was the first year that Becky has shown and was delighted to win The Show Hunter Championship at "The Horse of the Year Show" on her 5 year old full Irish Draught gelding Blackmoor Mac Rua!
From a non-horsey (but very supportive) family Becky was born pony mad, having started riding at 4 years old, loaned and then owned a pony since she was 8. Becky took at few years out, living and working in London as a fashion model from when she was 16 to 18 years old. Since her return she has trained and worked within the equine industry, initially gaining B.H.S qualifications, then running a "conventional" livery yard and teaching freelance.
A family of her own, two broken legs, the horses and riders Becky has met and the yards she has visited and worked at throughout her career have lead to some fundimental changes to the way she works, rides, teaches and chooses to life her life, culminating in the construction of Ashen E.C which opened in March 2005.
Becky is always developing her coaching and riding and looking at training techniques from around the globe. Recently she has been most inspired by the work of Gerd Hueschman and is applyinng to train with Philppe Karl 2010 - 2013.
Becky is a passionate and inspiring coach, invited to lecture at various Colleges as well as exhibitions and demonstrations around the UK. She who enjoys working with horses and riders of all ages, types and standards and from all equestrian disciplines.
Having witnessed the effect of positive reinforcement on riders Becky, sought out and continues to work with author and world-renowned animal behaviorist Alexandra Kurland. (See our Clicker Training page for details of clinics Ashen E.C hosts for Alex.) Ashen E.C is positive learning environment, all the horses who come for training are assisted in their settling and training by clicker work adding to the uniqueness of the setting.
More recently Becky invested in the very sophisticated Riding Simulator (details on the Riding Simulator page) to add to the range of facilities and services at the yard.
In 2008 Becky and Pete Doherty (scroll down for details about Pete) started "The Confident Equestrian Publishing Company" offering a powerful range of CD's and Workshops. Confident Equestrian for more.
Becky was also nominated for "The Field and Lycettes Rural Entrepreneur of 2008."
